SHOWJUMPING

Jump the highest, turn the tightest, beat the clock and win the class

At Brickfield Equine we specialise in training showjumping horses and coaching riders who are aiming to gain experience, fine-tune their abilities and participate in competitions.

To win at showjumping requires a horse that is a careful, brave and talented athlete and a rider who also possesses those attributes to match. We help to build a strong trusting relationship between horse and rider and also spend all the time it takes to ensure our horses are well schooled, well-mannered and are capable to perform to the best of their ability.

Catering to small select groups

We cater to a small, select group of talented riders who have access to our fantastic facilities including a floodlit arena, private coaching lessons and twice-monthly clinics with International Showjumping rider for Team GB, Emma O’Dwyer, and former Irish International showjumper, Tom Vance.

We also provide full showjumping livery which includes transport to shows, show grooming and on-site tuition, however we have limited availability to take on new horses and/or riders.

RYAN DE SOUSA

They say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and that’s certainly the case with Ryan de Sousa.

The first-born son of three-time UK Champion Jockey Silvestre de Sousa and Victoria, herself an apprentice jockey before changing ranks to Racehorse Pre-Trainer and Bloodstock Agent, Ryan was sitting on horses long before he could walk and talk.

Having first competed at British Show Pony level at the tender age of 5, he now rides horses and ponies produced by Brickfield Equine at National Shows and has represented England twice – on the Under 10 team at Home Pony International in Cavan, Ireland and at the Scottish Home Pony International in 2021.

A Millbry Hill-Sponsored rider, he has climbed the ranks and been associated with some special horses including Flicka II and Aerogan Emily.

When not riding, Ryan loves spending time with his two younger brothers Max and Harry and playing rugby and football.

The future is looking bright for Ryan, he is really looking forward to riding his ponies Mighty Mouse W Van De Dauwhoeve and Hyacinth DHI this year.

Ryan will compete at Pony of the Year Show, the British Showjumping National Championships, the Home Pony Internationals, Sentower (Belgium) and Fontanineblue (France) in 2023.
