We think we have the best team in the business
We are dedicated and passionate and proud of what we do. For us, this is not just a job, this is what we love to do and are privileged to wake up every morning to work with these amazing horses. We love seeing them come through our Stables then go on to achieve their full potential on the racecourse or in the arena.
Meet some of our team below – we also employ part time riders and yard staff.
Victoria de Sousa
Victoria, a former apprentice jockey with Dandy Nichols under her maiden name Behan, rode 14 winners on the Flat before hanging up her boots and taking a Degree in Equine Science. She was also a keen eventer and showjumper in Ireland in her teens and early 20s. Wife to three-time UK Champion Jockey, Silvestre de Sousa, and Mum to Ryan, Max and Harry, Victoria is now a successful Bloodstock Agent, pre-trainer and riding coach. Victoria still keeps her hand in competing her own horse, Tango at showjumping competitions during the summer months.
Ex-jockey, pony racer and graduate of the Northern Racing College, Sean has worked for trainers Richard Fahey and Philip Makin, where he was Travelling Head Lad, prior to joining the team at Brickfield Equine. He gained a wealth of experience travelling and riding racehorses around the world and is an exceptionally talented horseman who specialises in calming difficult horses.
Starting out at the Northern Racing College where she learned to ride racehorses, Kim’s first job in racing was at Brickfield Equine. She also did stints with trainers Richard Fahey and David O’Meara before returning to Brickfield Equine as Yard Manager and PA. Kim looks after the day-to-day running of the busy yard, the office admin and also rides out.
Hailing from South Africa, 19-year-old Victoria has a background in showjumping and learned to ride racehorses at Brickfield Equine under the tutelage of Victoria de Sousa. She has competed up to 130m at showjumping and excels at schooling young ponies on the flat. She assists with the day-to-day schooling of the sports horses and is learning more about the racing trade on the job.
